This tour is a loop road ride from Durango Colorado to Farmington New Mexico and back. The early start and clockwise course (all right turns) results in minimal issues with traffic. We will support a 7am start in Farmington also for 2011. The ride is a mix of small country roads and county highways. Most hills are short or gradual and many riders boast their personal best times in this century. A digital event clock will be running and participants are welcome to record their times in the official results ledger. While not a race, several riders finish in under 4 hours.

There will be 5 fully supplied food and water stops along the course (at 25 miles, 50 miles, 64 miles, 80 miles, and at the start/finish) and multiple sag support vehicles. This event is fully permitted and insured in Colorado and New Mexico. Early Bird registration is $35. Fees go toward insurance, food and water stations, portable toilets, and other cost recovery. Any excess will benefit Velo de Animas Bicycle Club, a not-for-profit bicycle advocacy organization. The number of riders has increased significantly every year and we expect some 400 riders in 2011. All riders will recieve a free 24oz. event water bottle with a map of the course printed on the side.

For 2011 Start/Finish is at Gateway Park, Durango (Traditional Start)

Optional start in Farmington for 2011 for a total of 6 route choices! See routes and registration for more details. Limited shuttle availability is available if you tell us ahead of time.

We will provide an excellent food and water station at the Start/Finish in Santa Rita (Gateway) Park AND at the Farmington Finish (baseball fields West Pinion Hills) which includes Subway sandwiches. Again, we will provide coffee and water for riders at the Start. The large digital clock will be running again in Durango, and we will assist riders to record their times in the Official Ledger (results will be posted on the website).
